Available Opportunity

Piteau Associates is going through an exciting phase of growth with the addition of over 50 employees in our Geotechnical and Water Management groups in the last few years. To keep up with this growth, we are expanding our hydrogeological and water management group capabilities with highly respected industry leaders in our operations in the USA. Based on this growth we are looking to hire Hydrogeologists to join our Water Management Group at any of our American offices.

Skills and Responsabilities

Piteau is seeking Hydrogeologists at all experience levels to take on challenging roles in its American operations. We offer the opportunity to work with industry-leading professionals and exposure to a wide range of projects including:

  • Pit slope depressurization and pit dewatering design for operating and proposed mines;

  • Groundwater component of NEPA analysis (EIA/EIS) for proposed mines;

  • Assessment and mitigation of potential environmental impacts for mining operations;

  • Groundwater assessments and permitting support for water supply, dewatering and waste water disposal programs,

  • Groundwater monitoring program development, implementation  and support for regulatory compliance programs;

  • Well design and construction; aquifer testing program planning, supervision and interpretation

  • Construction dewatering design for civil and industrial infrastructure development; and

These project areas provide opportunities to develop and enhance skills with:

  • Planning and supervision of hydrogeological field investigation programs

  • Interpretation of hydrogeological monitoring and characterization data, including geology, geophysics, hydraulic testing, piezometric time series, groundwater chemistry

  • Overseeing and providing technical guidance related to borehole logging, installation and maintenance of groundwater wells, hydraulic well testing and surface and groundwater sampling

  • Managing work schedules, controlling budgets while working within a multi-disciplinary team

  • Advanced data analysis using 3-D numerical flow and contaminant transport models

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3-D visualization software

  • Report writing and presentation

  • Developing and administering project budgets, project management, and technical writing

Required Qualifications

We are looking for candidates possessing some or all of the following qualifications and experience:

  • A Bachelors or advanced degree in a geological engineering, geology, or a related field with coursework and/or research in hydrogeology (required for all positions)

  • Experience in a consulting role

  • Eligibility for registration as a P.E. or P.G. in the USA.

  • Familiarity with state regulations, combined with a willingness and aptitude for project management and business development

  • Strong work experience in field-based investigations in physical hydrogeology, groundwater supply and hydrogeological assessments

  • Competency in soil and rock sampling and geotechnical soil and core logging, drilling, test pitting, well and piezometer installations, water quality sampling, and hydraulic response tests (e.g. slug, pumping, and packer testing)

  • Experience with industry-standard commercial computer software including Microsoft Excel and Access, ArcGIS, and various groundwater analysis and modeling software (e.g., AquiferTest, Seep/W, and MODFLOW)

  • Applicants for intermediate to principal level positions should include relevant career experience detailed in their resume.
