Skills and Responsibilities

This position is based in North Vancouver and offers the opportunity for professional growth and skill development in:

  • Fieldwork including borehole logging, installation, and development of monitoring and pumping wells, packer testing, airlift testing, response testing and pumping tests, and surface and groundwater sampling

  • Interpretation and analysis of hydrogeological monitoring and characterization data to support pit slope depressurization and pit dewatering design for open pit and underground mines at all stages of development

  • Development and implementation of groundwater monitoring programs for mines, landfills, and contaminated sites

  • Groundwater investigations in support of water supply, waste disposal, regulatory compliance and environmental assessments for proposed mining and water supply operations

  • Advanced data analysis using 3-D numerical flow and contaminant transport models

  • Managing work schedules and controlling budgets while working within a multi-disciplinary team

  • Report writing and presentation skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in geological engineering or geosciences from a recognized university

  • Strong technical, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and report writing skills

  • Willingness to travel domestically, internationally, and to remote locations

  • Eligibility for registration as an E.I.T./G.I.T. in Canada

  • Valid Canadian driver’s license

  • Experience with commercial computer software including Microsoft Excel and Access, ArcGIS/QGIS

  • Experience with various groundwater analysis and modeling software (e.g., AquiferTest, MODFLOW, FeFlow, and GOLDSIM) will be an asset

  • Previous geotechnical or hydrogeological consulting and design experience in open pit mines would be beneficial
