Skills and Responsibilities
Piteau is seeking Intermediate to Senior Hydrogeologists to take on challenging roles in its Canadian operations. We offer the opportunity to work with industry-leading professionals and exposure to a wide range of projects including:
Pit slope depressurization and pit dewatering design for open pit mines at all stages of development
Interpretation and analysis of hydrogeological monitoring and characterization data
Assessment and mitigation of potential environmental impacts for mining operations
Development and calibration of site-wide mine water balance and water quality model for operational decision-making and permitting
Overseeing and providing technical guidance related to borehole logging, installation, and maintenance of groundwater wells, hydraulic well testing and surface and groundwater sampling
Development and implementation of groundwater monitoring programs for mines, landfills, and groundwater disposal of sewage effluent
Groundwater assessments in support of water supply, waste disposal, and regulatory compliance
Advanced data analysis using 3-D numerical flow and contaminant transport models
Pumping and monitoring well design and construction
Regional aquifer assessments
Required Qualifications
We are looking for candidates possessing some or all of the following qualifications and experience:
Undergraduate or advanced degree in geological engineering or geosciences from a recognized university, or a related field with coursework and/or research in hydrogeology
Registration as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. in Canada
Strong technical and problem-solving skills
Managing work schedules, controlling budgets while working within a multi-disciplinary team
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and report writing skills
Previous relevant geotechnical or hydrogeological consulting and design experience in open pit mines
Experience with commercial computer software including Microsoft Excel and Access, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3-D visualization software, and various groundwater analysis and modeling software (e.g., GoldSim, AquiferTest, MODFLOW, FeFlow)
Valid Canadian driver’s license
Willingness to travel domestically, internationally, and to remote locations
