Piteau Associates provides specialist services in the areas of Mine Geotechnical Engineering and Waste Rock Management and is well known in the international mining community for our expertise in open pit slope design and mine waste dump design. Our team of engineers, geoscientists and technicians provide field program planning, data collection, data reduction and analysis, instrumentation and design services for projects in the conceptual to feasibility stages. For Operating Mines, we provide detailed design, performance reviews, and planning services for expansion and optimization studies, calibrated numerical modelling, interaction studies of underground or open pit mines and critical infrastructure, preparation of mitigative designs for unstable and rockfall prone areas, review of instrumentation and preparation of hazard response plans.
Mine Water Management
Our Water Management Group comprises senior consultants with industry experience ranging up to 40 years and provide water management solutions for mining projects across the globe. Mine water management plans are developed based on gaining a clear understanding of the local groundwater and surface water flow regimes, understanding the objectives of mine drainage and surface water control programs, and the successful integration of activities with the overall mine site development from new projects, expanding projects and closure studies and sites.
Groundwater and Contaminated Sites
Piteau Associates offers services relating to the identification, development, and management of groundwater resources to clients including large municipalities, first nations, residential developers, and industry. These studies often focus on assessing and maintaining aquifer performance and sustainability in terms of ability to meet present and projected future demands for groundwater extraction, effects on other groundwater users and the environment. Our contaminated sites services includes assessment and remediation projects at several large properties including rail yards, industrial properties, airports, chemical storage facilities, sawmills, and former coal gasification plants. We have experience dealing with contaminants including petroleum hydrocarbons to solvents, metals, tars, and PCBs.
